I think you know what I'm going to do this winter : QUILTING

srijeda, 6. lipnja 2012.

LAZY ? ME? NEVER !

OK, feel a little bit of idleness but only for writing.
So, what was I doing lately? Sewing and quilting, of course. Two more UFOs were finished : this one is belated birthday quilt for my sister.Waiting time : only year and a half, my family is accustomed to late presents. Size: 59" x 78"

As some of you allready know, I'm self taugh quilter and all I know about quilting I've learned on internet. My favorite teacher and may I say guru is Bonnie Hunter from Quiltville, her patterns are easy to understand and her very explanation very detailed and explicit. Most of them are scrapy ( I LOVE scraps!), and not less important- they are free. This one is called "Crayon box", but I would prefer call it Sunshine quilt. This is a little bigger then sister's quilt:  65" x  87"  and woud be mine.
Both quilts were free motion quilted.

Finishing this two quilts , I have only 3 UFOs  left, but have 6-9 WIPs in various stages.

FROM UFO TO FF

I've started this quilt four years ago, it was graduation gift for my niece.Top was done in two weeks, but quilting...OK, I don't like quilting but living in the country where is no professional quilters I have to do it myself.
And did it.
Most important thing about this quilt is satisfied niece who finally got her quilt.

Another swoon  block is finished and became a table topper  for Easter. This is my favorite block at the moment, of course have plans for whole quilt but don't know when.

SIGGIES ON SUNDAY

Sunday is almost gone, but these lovely siggies were waiting too long to be introduced to the world.
Aren't they pretty? They came from:

Marlene  from Germany

Chiara from Italy

Lia from Holand

Joe from USA

Vicky from  Curacao

Jeanette from Holand

Mary from Canada

Mirjam from Holand

Just a few more siggies and I'm going to start making quilt out of them

FNSI RESULTS AGAIN

Some time ago I found a box full of strips which were some odd width, less than 2,5" more than 2 " and not2 1/4". Cutting them to 2" would last too long, so I've decided to make a carpet inspired by jelly roll race. After quilting,it looks to me more baby quilt than a carpet , and ta-daaaaa my first charity quilt for this year is done.
FNSI was perfect opportunity to bind it and I've did it.

It is a little too bright, but babies love bright colors, don't they.

FSNI RESULT

I'm a scrap quilter and for a some time I wish to make a Postage stamp quilt, and was busy cutting my scraps to 2,5" squares. Then I found out that Mary from Curious quilter organize a swap for quilters who are about to make PSQ. Of course, I've joined and cut 400 scraps more. Each of us have to sent 100 squares to our's partner and here are wonderful charm squares I've received from my partners:

These were sent by Teresa from USA,

these are from Realene;Australia, she even sent me a note in my own language

These lovely envelope full with beautiful scraps are from Mandy; US

and finally these are sent from Betty;US

So I had 400 brand new scraps to which I've added the same amount of my own scraps, shake them well and put about a quarter of them in this bowl.

I've picked them randomly out of the bowl,  sew in pairs and by the end of the evening I had 5 blocks which are made from 36  pieces sized 2,5 inch. I'm not sure how big  this quilt is going to be, but I'm sure I have projects for next  FNSI.
